  My husband and I ate here on vacation in Savannah and thought it was some of the best home cooked food we’ve ever had at a great price! We just split the $25 lunch special but the amount of food they ended up giving us was enough to feed 4 people. I would have easily spent double the price for everything they gave us. It was all delicious but we especially loved the banana pudding and fried chicken. We took our food to go and ate in one of the squares on a beautiful afternoon. It was an awesome meal and all of the staff there were so kind and showed true hospitality. Will definitely return next time we come to Savannah!

  Wow, to say that these people were showing southern hospitality is a understatement!!! The food was absolutely incredible and everyone was so friendly. We were given WAY more food than we asked for at no charge out of the generosity of their hearts. Best place I’ve ever eaten 100%. You HAVE to try the food as it is the best tasting southern food I’ve ever tried!

  Holy cow. One of the best 5 meals I’ve had in my entire life. We knew the time was tight and sometimes they run out of food so we took the trolley and showed up about 30 min before they opened. There was already a line of about 20 people. They started taking orders around 10:30 and ours was taken maybe around 10:50 AM. We picked a nice little table on the grounds and waited. Food took about 40 minutes to come out and it was hot! They have us many extras. 4 extra sides and even extra banana pudding we didn’t order. We ordered the lunch special which has 4 pieces of chicken 3 sides and biscuit, corn bread and pound cake. We got 9 pieces of chicken extra rice, cabbage, noodles and peas and yams (the sides we picked were corn, dressing and potatoes) plus the extra dessert. Food was to die for chicken was hot and crispy and the sides so yummy and amazing fly cooked. Well worth the wait. A must have in Savannah!

  Traveled to Savannah from NYC and stumbled upon Mrs. Wilkes while searching for places to eat. THIS PLACE IS OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD! I waited on line about a half hour before they officially opened but they were already taking people’s orders which was great. Then they called me about an hour later that my food was ready and we were able to grab an empty table outside. Be prepared to eat!! We ordered just one lunch special and they gave us so much extra food, it was more than enough for 2-3 people. Honestly, they gave us about 12 pieces of fried chicken even though the special is supposed to come with 4 and they gave us 4 extra sides on top of the 3 included!! Everyone who works there was so lovely, ordering and picking up food was seamless, and the food is probably like in the top 3 meals I’ve ever had! If you are going to Savannah, you absolutely must spend an afternoon at Mrs. Wilkes!

  This was the best meal we had in Savannah by far. My husband and I split a lunch special and it was enough food for 4 people. The fried chicken was fantastic, and the sides we amazing! The food was wonderful, but the overall experience with the owner and staff made this one of the best meals I've ever had. Definitely recommend! Go and get in line early before they open!
